Thank you for a wonderful site! It’s very informative.
My alliance will be trying something a little different this time around. We are going to focus from the start on building second villages. And we want to build them out of the already built up civilized areas. We figure this will give us several advantages. But I was wondering how many hours away from civilization our alliance should send it’s settlers. The people I’ve talked with who have done this sort of thing tell me that sending them out about 24 hours from civilization is best. They say that will allow us to build huge villages by the time civilization catches up to us. But some people in our alliance think that’s too far. So how far do you think we should send them in order to have large villages by the time civilization expands to catch up with them?
Scott: To be honest, I would not recommend settling a village that takes more than 5 hours for your settlers to get there. There is nothing wrong with settling in a crowded area. If you settle a village in a different quadrant than you or really far it will take forever for resources and reinforcements to get there. It is much harder to defend a village that is far away. Not to mention that there really won’t be any marketplace offers that will come within the next 24 hours. In fact, if I were you, I’d recommend that you settle right next to your capitol. This will allow you to get a shipment of resources to your new village in 2 and a half minutes instead of 25 hours. Same with reinforcements. If you keep doing this you will have 10 villages of yours right next to each other. Who will settle a village next to 10 of your villages without asking permission? It also makes all your villages grow faster and they are much easier to defend.
But if you’re going to not take my advice (I really do only speak from experience) then I would recommend 24-48 hours. Settlers are pretty slow, and by that time you will have a 300 or 400 pop village if you work hard enough at it, and then everyone settling near you will be starting off at 2 pop. But then again, a 2 pop village might just easily pass your village in growth. I mean you’re not going to attack a 2 pop player if its owned by a 15,000 pop player, are you?

I’m curious as to why you linked to Tips4Travian. Do you recommend people buy his Ebook? The support email on the site bounces and it looks like a scam.
Scott: Thanks for the compliments. I linked to it because the information in the ebook is far beyond anything you will find for free. Even I learned a lot of stuff. I recommend it 100%, and he has a few other ebooks as well on travian but they are on different aspects of travian. Believe me, I am good friends with the guy who owns it and it is the farthest thing from a scam. The support email and newsletter are very helpful, and this guy is a great person who knows everything about travian there is to know. I guarantee you it is not a scam.
I have a question about resources, We are supposed to supply our alliance leader 1hrs res’s a day to upgrade the embassy. I have been doing this daily with no problems until now. When I go to send it is restricting the amount I send to 282 resources and 300+ wheat for my scout who is reinforcing his village. Why is it now limiting me, my hrly production is over a 1000+ for all 4 res’s.

I get more or less 1 hours to play travian each day. I generally like to attack but also have no problems being a defender. I generally like fast developing troops as i dont get enough time to play. Can u please tell me which is the best and worst tribe for me in Travian?
