Hello Everyone!

For the fun of it I might be creating a YouTube account. I’m still figuring out what to post on it so just be patient.

In other news, I want everyone to check out http://travianchampions.wordpress.com/, its quite interesting. In my opinion, more informative than the .com forums.

One of the tips I am including in this post is how to get into an alliance. It seems simple, but there is more to it than you may think. Here are some tips-

1. Correct English. An application like “hey can i pleez join ur allaince” is much more likely to be turned down than an application such as “Hello, I was wondering if I could join your alliance. I am a relatively experienced player with a well sized army. Sincerely, your name.” This tip seems obvious, but I still get messages like this all the time.

2. Be Nice. When they reply with an answer, whatever it is, be nice about it. If they say “Ok, your application is being processed, please wait a few days we will have this all sorted out”, don’t say “Oh come on man quit being lazy jerk you can freakin invite me right now”, or something along those lines.

3. Lie. (a LITTLE bit). No huge exaggerations here. If your population is 500, and you have 400 troops, it might be ‘ok’ to say you have a 1:1 ratio of troops to population. As long as you don’t say you have a 2:1 ratio, you should be fine… Keep your little lies to yourself and don’t make them too big, otherwise your new alliance will find out.

The second tip I am giving you is one you would not normally do but it is more helpful than you think.

Say there are 3 raids coming to your village. You have 50 phalanxes. They are all raids, so obviously there are no catapults. (You can determine whether an attack is a raid or not by going to your rally point and look at ‘incoming troops’) And even if there were catapults, they don’t fire in raids, so there is no point. If it is a raid, DODGE THE ATTACK. Go to the search engine on this site if you don’t know what dodging the attack is. If it is just a raid nothing will be destroyed, and there is no point in losing troops. Just don’t forget to make sure your attackers don’t get resources.

Have a Nice Day and happy raiding

Clustering and Village Specialty June 2, 2009

I have 2 very good tips for you. First off, is Clustering your villages together. You might not know what I mean when I’m talking about it but I’m sure you’ve all seen something like this.
Cluster2
By the way I didn’t take that picture I just found it on google images, Thank you to whoever took it.
Who would settle a village next to a cluster like this without asking permission first?
Also, this makes your villages grow much faster and you are able to defend them much easier. It is easier to make a village grow when it takes 2 and a half minutes for merchants to get to it than if it takes 12 hours. Also, reinforcements arrive quickly so they are easy to defend.

The second tip I have to give you is making a village purpose, or specialty. Many players, both experienced and non-experienced make the huge mistake of building every type of soldier in one village and trying to get them all fully upgraded. Doing that will lead to fully upgraded troops later in the game rather than earlier. For example, you might build a scout village. Roman scouts take the most clay, so you would try this in a 5 clay village. Here you would build 2000-3000 scouts. If you scout someone with 3000 scouts, they will be scared out of their mind. Another good idea for this is to build a village with assault troops, such as your tribe’s best offensive unit and lots of rams and catas. Also you might build a cavalry village and a defensive village. This is a somewhat complicated tip and will require some planning on your own, but will be worth it in the end.

This a very useful website. It allows you to calculate and compare lots of things. It also allows you to search for inactive, small players that you can farm to take their resources.

Tips to Increase Your Crop Production January 16, 2009

If you train a soldier, and have 30 crop production, you’ll notice that after you train your soldier, you only have 29 crop production! And this is for just one soldier! You will need to keep a crop production as high as possible, because if you get into negative crop production…. Well that’s just not good. So here are some tips on how to keep your crop production high.

  • Upgrade your crop resource fields. Yes, this is the obvious one. You can spend as much gold as you want on 25% increase on crop production, but the best and most efficient way is to simply upgrade your crop resource fields as much as possible.
  • Build a Mill and Bakery! If you build both of these, upgrade them to the fullest, you can get a 50% bonus on crop production! This will have a huge impact on how much crop you will have, so I would also highly recommend doing this if you have the resources.
  • Get a 25% Crop Production Bonus for 7 gold on Travian Plus For a Week. Yes, this will cost you real life money, but it is also a way to increase your crop production
  • Trade for Crop! If you have a negative crop production, but you somehow you keep grain in your granary, your soldiers will take the crop out of your granary, and they won’t die. (Tip: Soldiers will actually die if you run out of crop and have a negative crop production, so keep up your crop production!)
  • Raid for Crop! This is a very hard way to do it, but, if all else fails, it will be your only way. It works the same way as trading, but you’re stealing it. You could make enemies while doing this, so beware. Only do this if all else fails and it is your only way to keep up your crop production.

How to calculate when you will have enough resources to build something-without Travian Plus January 14, 2009

There are 2 ways to do this.

#1. Current Resources minus resources needed (450 Lumber minus 700 Lumber, 250 Clay minus 500 Clay, etc.)
If you get a positive number, that means you have enough of that resource.
If you get a negative number, that means you need more. So then you take your hourly production of that resource and multiply it by 1, then 2, then 3, and so on until you have barely enough resources. Then, that is how many hours you’ll need to wait. Also, if you raid and trade you won’t have to wait as long. Also, say you need to wait 5 hours for clay, but 7 hours for lumber. You will need to wait for 7 hours, because you won’t have enough lumber after 5 hours.

#2. It is actually a lot simpler than it seems, but if you incorrectly complete or don’t do one step, it will mess you up.

    1. Get a Pen/Pencil, paper, and a Calculator, you’ll need it.
    2. Write down the amount lumber, clay, iron, and crop you need to build whatever you need.
    Example-
    500 Lumber
    650 Clay
    300 Iron
    100 Crop

    3. Write down your resource production per hour
    Example-
    Lumber-25 per hour
    Clay-30 per hour
    Iron-20 per hour
    Crop-17 per hour

    4. Write down the amount of resources you already have.
    Example-
    200 Lumber
    300 Clay
    79 Iron
    15 Crop

    5. This is the most important step. If it helps, make a chart like I did. I used Microsoft Excel by the way. If you don’t have Microsoft Excel, just draw one on a sheet of paper.
    data-table-travian-resources
Make the same graph, but add your own data in. The data used here is only an example.

    6. Keep going until you have enough of all resources. Find out however many hours it takes, then go on in that many hours! If you get good at doing this it only takes about 10 minutes to do.

Tips on how to stop getting farmed, and how to stop getting attacked, Travian Journal January 11, 2009

    If you are being farmed…

  • Always remember that if there is a big raider in your area, that they could care less about your “tiny” (as it seems to them) village, however, they do care about your resources. So all you have to do is upgrade your cranny as much as you can! Then, they won’t get any resources out of it! Then, they won’t see a point in attacking you, and then they will more on to some other village. It worked for me!
  • If your raider is constantly attacking you 24/7 and you can’t seem to build up enough resources to upgrade your cranny before your raider steals them, then it might be a good idea to send a message to them politely asking them to stop. If its absolutely necessary, then send them some resources as a tribute. Whatever you do, don’t cuss out/insult/piss off/taunt your attacker. I’ve seen too many people go down this road to destruction. If you do this, your attacker will only increase how often the attacks are and size of the attacks. A lot of players who have this happening them will delete their account and start a new one because it is so frustrating to put up with.
  • Tips on how to stop getting attacked…

  • Join an alliance! Players will be less likely to attack an alliance member because they don’t know exactly how tough the other members are.
  • Same tip as above, make it not worth it to attack you. If they aren’t getting anything out of raiding you, they’ll move along to another village.
  • Intimidate them. Build a wall, and make sure you have a scout or two in your city. Also get a huge population. (You can do this by increasing your main building to level 10, its a very cheap to way to get population). Whether you have any troops in your village or not, it will look like you do. And no one will be able to tell, because your scout will kill any other scouts who try and scout your village!
  • And now, for the Travian Journal. This is a short paragraph explaining what is going on in my 7×7 and in my Travian game, and it might be able to give you some advice sooner or later.
So today, my 25% production bonus from the gold I had at the beginning ended :( and so I have less production of everything. I was going to start training a few soldiers so I could raid the inactive villages around me, but I decided that I should upgrade my resource buildings. I’ll start building an army after a few more resource buildings get upgraded.

Just a Few Quick Tips January 10, 2009

    tips-text

  • Build a Cranny and get it to level 10 as soon as possible. Believe it or not this will actually decrease the number of attacks on your village. If raiders see that they have to spend a bunch of resources to attack your village, but they aren’t getting any resources from it, then they will see no point in raiding you.
  • Don’t think Scouts are not important. Scouts are very important when raiding. They can see everything in a village, and unless there are no enemy scouts in the village, your enemy will have no idea if he’s being scouted or not. If you can, always scout before attacking.
  • IMPORTANT NOTE: Never send only 1 soldier to raid. Even if the target is a 2 population village HE WILL GET KILLED. Don’t know if there’s an explanation for this, but this is how it works. So if you’re willing to send soldiers make it a team of at least 2.
  • some-travian-terminology-text

  • Bashing: Crushing the Small, the Weak, and the Unprepared. In other words, attacking someone constantly so it’s impossible for him or her to grow.
  • Catas: Short for “Catapult.” Catapults are very powerful (And expensive) weapons that can destroy random buildings and troops in your village.
  • Cranny: This is probably one of your most important structures, and any village that’s going to keep its resources after beginner protection needs one of these. They hide your resources from raiders.
  • Farms: This refers to a village that someone else attacks and “farms” (raids) for resources. You don’t want your village to be a farm, so build up some defenses and a cranny! Usually the inactive villages near you are most vulnerable to “farming”. They will always keep on getting more resources, so active players who simply raid them enough have an easy source of resources. If you have an inactive player near you, well, you know what to do….
  • IGM: In Game Message. You can send messages to other players. Thankfully they aren’t like merchants and soldiers and don’t take a time length to get to the village depending on how far away it is.
